Pop-up wall or roll-up banners — which for a small booth
Totals for 1, 3 and 7 days, logistics, deposits and replacement values, plus the differences that never show up in the price.
On a small booth the question is almost always the same: one 3×3 pop-up wall or four roll-up banners side by side. The two options cover roughly the same width, but they are priced on different tariffs, they travel differently and they look different. Here are the sums, and the differences that are not in the sums.
The two tariffs involved
A pop-up wall is a large structure and runs on the large structures tariff, where the discount eases in more gently because of the setup work. Roll-up banners run on the standard tariff. So the same number of days gives a different percentage.
| Days | Standard tariff (roll-ups) | Large structures (pop-up) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 100 % | 100 % |
| 2–3 | 80 % | 85 % |
| 4–7 | 65 % | 70 % |
| 8–14 | 50 % | 60 % |
| 15–30 | 40 % | 50 % |
| 31+ | 30 % | 40 % |
The daily prices: straight 3×3 pop-up wall — €45.00 per day, Strong 85×200 roll-up banner — €10.00 per day. Four banners come to €40.00 a day at full price, which is €5.00 less than the wall.
The sums for 1, 3 and 7 days
The wall on the large structures tariff: 1 day is €45.00. Three days are 45.00 + 38.25 × 2 = €121.50. Seven days are 45.00 + 38.25 × 2 + 31.50 × 4 = €247.50.
One banner on the standard tariff: 1 day €10.00, 3 days 10.00 + 8.00 × 2 = €26.00, 7 days 10.00 + 8.00 × 2 + 6.50 × 4 = €52.00. Four banners are four times that.
| Period | 3×3 pop-up wall | Four roll-up banners | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | €45.00 | €40.00 | banners cheaper by €5.00 |
| 3 days | €121.50 | €104.00 | banners cheaper by €17.50 |
| 7 days | €247.50 | €208.00 | banners cheaper by €39.50 |
On rental alone the banners win, and the gap widens with the days, because the standard tariff falls faster. At 7 days the €39.50 difference is about 16 % of the wall rental.
Logistics flips the calculation
Here is where it gets interesting. Roll-up banners are accepted by couriers. A 3×3 pop-up wall is not accepted by the courier companies because of the size of its case — for the wall you either collect it from our base in Sofia, 24 Dimitur Mollov str., Sofia, or book delivery with setup and takedown.
A courier to an address is €28.00 for a rental, and on rentals the return leg is paid separately at the same rate, so €56.00 both ways. Delivery with setup in Sofia is a €30.00 visit plus €5.00 setup per item, with the takedown included in the setup fee.
| Three-day option | Rental | Logistics | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wall, self-collection | €121.50 | €0.00 | €121.50 |
| Four banners, self-collection | €104.00 | €0.00 | €104.00 |
| Wall, delivery with setup in Sofia | €121.50 | 30.00 + 5.00 = €35.00 | €156.50 |
| Four banners, courier to address both ways | €104.00 | 28.00 × 2 = €56.00 | €160.00 |
With delivery the wall lands €3.50 cheaper than four banners by courier. On a single day the wall advantage is clearer still: 45.00 + 35.00 = €80.00 against 40.00 + 56.00 = €96.00. At 7 days it flips back: 247.50 + 35.00 = €282.50 for the wall against 208.00 + 56.00 = €264.00 for the banners.
The conclusion is practical: on short appearances with delivery the wall is competitive, because its logistics is a single fixed figure. On longer rentals the banners take the lead again. In both cases everything sharing the same dates and one address goes into one logistics group and logistics is paid once.
Deposit, replacement value and risk
| Measure | 3×3 pop-up wall | Four Strong roll-ups |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | €150.00 | 4 × 40.00 = €160.00 |
| Replacement value | €890.00 | 4 × 145.00 = €580.00 |
| Typical damage and fee | broken magnetic frame segment — €85.00 | bent cassette — €65.00 |
| Minor damage coverage on 3 days | 8 % of 121.50 = €9.72 | 8 % of 104.00 = €8.32 |
The deposits are close — €150.00 against €160.00 — and in both cases they run on a proforma invoice and are released within 2 working days after return and inspection. The difference sits in the replacement value: the wall is €890.00, the four banners €580.00. If the booth is outdoors or somewhere with heavy footfall, that is a real argument.
Minor damage coverage is 8 % of the rental and covers up to €300.00. On the wall for 3 days that is €9.72, on the banners €8.32. Full coverage for a large stand is a flat €45.00 and covers up to €1,500.00, which makes sense precisely with a €890.00 wall. Neither coverage includes loss, theft or storm damage outdoors.
The differences that are not about price
Wall coverage. A 3×3 wall is one continuous graphic. Four banners at 85 cm give 340 cm of artwork, but with four vertical breaks and visible floor between them. If the design is one large photo or one large statement, the wall is the only option that carries it.
Portability. Banners go by courier, the wall does not. A banner is carried on one shoulder; the wall case needs a van and usually two people.
Setup. A roll-up goes up in a minute — pull the graphic, click in the pole. The wall means unfolding a frame, attaching the magnetic panels and aligning them. That is why the large structures tariff eases down more slowly.
Flexibility on site. Four banners can be rearranged however you like: two at the front, two at the back, or one beside the table. The wall stays where it was assembled.
Changing the message. If only one message changes, you reprint one graphic out of four. On the wall the graphic is one large piece and it is reprinted whole.
Printing. Printing is a one-off production per item, not a daily charge, and the graphic stays with you after the rental. For an 85×200 roll-up, 510 gsm vinyl is €24.00, PP film is €19.00, and no print because you have your own is €0.00. Four new vinyl graphics are 4 × 24.00 = €96.00, but you use them at the following events too.
When to choose which
Choose the 3×3 pop-up wall if the booth is closed on three sides and you want a solid backdrop, if the design is one big visual, if the appearance is short and you will use delivery with setup, or if you have a van and people for the build. A wall makes a booth look finished, and that is the difference visible from the aisle.
Choose four roll-up banners if the booth has two open fronts, if the appearance runs seven days or more, if the hardware has to travel by courier to another town, if you want to rearrange things on site, or if you have four separate messages — four products or four services, for instance.
There is a third option that comes up often: a wall at the back and two banners at the front. Over 3 days that is 121.50 + 52.00 = €173.50 in rental, and with delivery with setup in Sofia add a €30.00 visit and 3 × 5.00 = €15.00 setup, so €218.50 in total. All in one logistics group, because the dates and the address are the same.
The conclusions in short
On rental alone the banners are cheaper: €40.00 against €45.00 for 1 day, €104.00 against €121.50 for 3 days, €208.00 against €247.50 for 7 days.
Add logistics and short rentals flip: a wall with delivery over 3 days is €156.50, banners by courier both ways are €160.00.
The wall does not travel by courier. The banners do.
The deposits are close — €150.00 against €160.00 — but replacement is €890.00 against €580.00.
The wall gives one continuous graphic, the banners give flexibility and four separate messages.
Printing is a one-off and the graphic stays with you — €24.00 for an 85×200 vinyl graphic.
